The beginning of the Company dates back to the end
of the 19th century. It started as a river shipyard.
The company was the second river shipyard upon
the Odra River in the twenties of the 20th century.
The shipyard was completely destroyed after
the Second World War as just as the whole town
of Głogów. In 1946 the Głogowska Stocznia Rzeczna
(the Glogow River Shipyard) was founded.
The company extended the scope of activities
and in 1957 started to manufacture machinery
and equipment for building industry.
In 1965 the Company started production of mobile
cranes. Over 16.000 cranes of different types,
of capacity from 6 to 45 tons have been made till
to-day. In 1976 the company name was changed to
Fabryka Maszyn Budowlanych FAMABA S.A.
On 1st of January 1999 the Company has been
reorganized in a join stock company. On the turn
of the century Famaba started to specialize in
prefabrication of crucial structural steelwork.
In March 2004 FAMABA S.A. became a member
of the Dutch industrial group - the SMULDERS GROEP.
Thereby the FAMABA S.A. Experience has been
supported by the potential and power
of SMULDERS GROEP.
